James began studying Chinese at the University of Central Lancashire. As an undergraduate, James studied Business Management and Chinese, studying for a year in Beijing and working with companies in China.  James began his teaching career at Harris Academy South Norwood as Teacher of Mandarin, progressing on to Subject Leader and then onto Mandarin Consultant for the Federation in September 2016. James completed his Masters in Education in 2016 and recently completed the NPQSL qualification in 2018. James has conducted workshop and plenary sessions at conferences including the UCL IOE CI National Chinese teachers conference. James has experience of teaching to both secondary and primary students through his role and his key interests lie in mentoring new teachers and in encouraging schools to begin teaching Mandarin Chinese as part of their curriculum.
